| Train Up Children Review | The King is Born DVD is an overall good teaching tool to give children a visual of what it could have been like during the birth of Jesus Christ. However, the portrayal of King Herod maybe too intense for young children ages 5 and below. Be sure to watch for children's reaction and forward parts of scenes ~ Wise Men Visit Herod and Every Baby Boy Must Die ~ Overall rating for this DVD is 4 Stars. | Even though we don't agree with the appearance of Jesus, being blonde hair and blue eyed, Nest Entertainment creates a very good visual of what a Jewish Passover celebration would entail. Especially when Jesus, at the age of 12, went to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast ~ Luke 2:41-50. The early years of Jesus are animated nicely and we recommend the DVD as a good teaching resource. Also, it tells the biblical account of Jesus' temptation in the wilderness, very realistic. Not many Bible videos do that well. Overall rating for this DVD is 5 Stars. | When we first watched this DVD we felt a bit uneasy with the portrayal of Zacharias. In the beginning of the DVD Zacharias is characterized as a grouchy old man. Luke 1:6-7 states both Elizabeth and Zacharias were "righteous before God." Plus Herodias was a bit extreme. However, half way through the DVD we come to grow fond of the animated enactment of John the Baptist. His devotion to God was passionate and encouraging. Like with any Bible video you watch with your children, always go back to the Scriptures and discuss with them the accurate rendention of the biblical event. Overall accuracy rating for this DVD is 3 Stars. | One thing Nest Entertainment does well is create a sense of reality within their older "New Testament" Bible DVDs. However, the newer interactive DVDs are more computer animated. But not so with this one. Each scene is beautifully drawn and when compared to Scripture it's mostly accurate. Yet there are some implied story events that are questionable but not unreasonable. After watching this DVD children will get an animated picture of lifestyle in biblical times and an understanding why common people were drawn to Jesus. Overall rating for this DVD is 5 Stars. |
