Christian Biography Teaching Series – Gladys Aylward

A 30-minute DVD about Gladys Aylward, a Christian missionary who helped over a hundred Chinese orphans escape during World War II. This legendary rescue will inspire your children follow God's leading and trust in His provision.

Aylward's village came under attack by the Japanese and the children she cared for were suddenly in danger.  In the middle of the night, she awakened them to embark on a dangerous trek – crossing the mountains on foot with enemy soldiers on the hunt.  At many points, the long journey seemed impossible, but God was faithful and always made a way. 

Your children will follow Aylward as she guides the children through hidden dangers on the mountains, always following God's lead. By using this Christian biography DVD as a teaching resource with your family, your children will learn:

•     When God asks us to do difficult things, He helps us to do them.
•     God really does answer prayer and perform miracles.
•     God loves everyone, and wants us to tell others about His love.

Before watching the DVD with your child, ask your child to imagine moving to China. What things would be different? One of the things they would need to learn is how to communicate in a new language. Visit your library to find a book or cassette that teaches Chinese words and phrases and learn a few together with your children.  This exercise will help your children appreciate the obstacles Aylward faced when she decided to follow God to China.
